Helping installers unplug Marketplace sales

Roz Bridges, TymeOnline’s expert Head of Business Development, has worked with the Installer Show (24-6 June 2025) on a blog to help brands in the bathroom and kitchen installation and improvement sector can unplug sales success online.
Successful selling has always required being in a place that’s highly discoverable and accessible for your customers. And increasingly, that prime location is online.
That’s because, thanks to a combination of 5G data speeds and secure digital payment capabilities, consumers are fast embracing eCommerce as an easy, time-efficient and safe way to browse, research and buy. And, with the rise of AI profiling, that will only get more convenient. As a result, it’s estimated* that the UK market will grow by 21.76% annually (CAGR) to reach US$750.80 billion (£580.74 billion) by 2029.
The UK’s online marketplaces are a significant part of the e-commerce sector, with millions of monthly visitors and a large impact on the UK economy. Established platforms such as Amazon receive 400 million visits per month and ebay 235 million, both of which appeal to both trade and DIY customers. eBay estimated they had 500k trade customers on their site based on buying behaviours and reported this number is growing.
In addition, over the last few years, the emergence of specialist websites for trade and DIY customers such as ManoMano and B&Q have given more choices to the online buyer and more platforms for brands and distributors to sell on. Plus retailers such as Tesco, The Range and Debenhams have also launched with a focus on homewares.
Knowing where to list your specific products and how to go about it can be tricky, You also need a dedicated head count to ensure products are set up correctly as well as being able to run the accounts without missing SLAs. Each marketplace is different when it comes to optimising listings and using onsite levers such a promoted listings and advertising. Ideally, you will be able to ship direct to consumer, though there are many logistics companies that can offer warehousing and pick, pack and dispatch services.
That’s where UK eCommerce experts like TymeOnline can help, with a range of onboarding and ongoing managed services designed to help brands and sellers set up and run a thriving online business.
